The partnership between the major sponsors,(Tattersall’s, Skilled and Accor),  the Government of Victoria, DanceSport Australia and the Australian Dancing Society was a strong combination.

Misa Cigoi and Anastasija Novozilova of Slovenia took out the IDSF World Ten Dance Championship title. They set their sights on this result 12 months ago when they competed in Melbourne at the 2003Tattersall’s Australian DanceSport Championship.

Australia was  proud of local dancers Adam Blakey and Meagen Alderton. They did an outstanding job in making a very competitive final.

The Opening to the championship was choreographed by Jason Gilkison ably assisted by Peta Roby,  It set the scene for a memorable night for the thousands in attendance.

The inaugural IDSF World New Vogue Championship title went to Stefano Olivieri and Melanie Sears of New South Wales.

It was a magnificent week of dancing for Melbourne.

The International President - Rudi Baumann, proclaimed Melbourne the capital for DanceSport in Australia and said that “Melbourne has set a new standard for World Championship events which will be difficult to follow”.

The President’s Award was made to Margaret Lonsdale for her contribution and commitment to the sport.

Congratulations to all involved.
